Road block intensified at Blood River intersection

Taxi operators have been reminded they should load a maximum of 10 passengers, who must all wear masks.

The Emadlangeni Municipality’s Disaster Management team, together with the Utrecht SAPS and the Department of Health, conducted a roadblock at the Blood River intersection, towards eMondlo, on May 7. This marked the final day for inter-provincial traveling grace period, as per the Alert Level 4 lockdown regulations.

The roadblock witnessed over 2000 vehicles that passed the Blood River intersection, and all passengers in the cars , taxis and buses were screened. Ayanda Mabaso, Emadlangeni Municipality Communications Officer, said no cases of Covid-19 were recorded during this period.

“Those who didn’t adhere to the regulations that were set out by government were instructed to comply. Taxi operators were reminded that they should ferry a maximum of 10 passengers who must all wear masks. No arrests were made during the roadlock.”
