Dannhauser residents have a reason to smile, thanks to donations

Business owners band together to assist community

Residents of Ward 2 in Dannhauser have praised the generosity of five business owners who have come together to help them in their time of need.

Eric Jele, a resident of Mafusini, contacted the Courier to thank OK Food (Ahmed), Desai’s Bus Services (Dawood), MA Trans (Ashraf), Yahyaas Transport (Basheer) and Caltex Garage (Zaheer) for their donations of food parcels. “On behalf of the community of Mafusini and the rest of Ward 2, we would like to say thank you to these businesses for helping us with food parcels during this difficult time.

As a result of the Covid-19 lockdown, many people are struggling to get food, as many depend on social grants or small salaries.

With no one allowed to work, apart from essential services, people are battling. Some have not even received their grants.”

With the extension of the lockdown, Eric elaborated that many in the community were in dire straits.
