Chaos at the ‘100 Steps’ in Ladysmith (Video)
Break-ins are taking place in the area, with criminals hiding out in the tall grass

The ‘100 Steps’ walkway up the hillside from Farquhar Road to Shearer Road has become a major problem over the years for nearby residents.
Going as far back as 2016, Mr and Mrs Hurter and other residents from the area have been on the front-line to try and get the area closed off or at least cleaned up.
But their cries for help to the municipality have fallen on deaf ears.
They say that numerous break-ins are taking place in the area, with criminals being able to hide in the long grass and even conceal stolen items there.

Vagrants are now using the 100 Steps as a home and are known to jump into residents’ yards to get water.
With the constant movement up and down the shortcut, dogs bark and disturb the peace the entire night.
Residents feel the need for the area to be closed off, as the pathway can no longer be used due to the overgrown vegetation and criminal activities that are taking place. Numerous muggings have also been documented along the 100 Steps and it now has a reputation of being very dangerous indeed.
