Covid-19: KZN records first paediatric death

KZN recorded 17 new Covid-19 related deaths in four different districts

The Health Department in KwaZulu-Natal has confirmed that the province has recorded its first paediatric death since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The deceased was a five-month-old who was admitted with tuberculosis,” said department spokesperson Agiza Hlongwane.

In addition, KZN recorded 17 new Covid-19 related deaths in four different districts.

“Yesterday (July 6) KwaZulu-Natal recorded 789 new cases, 462 cases less than what was reported a day before. The province continues to experience an upsurge of cases with Ethekwini and UMgungundlovu districts recording 60% of the daily cases,” added Mr Hlongwane.

The total number of people screened for Covid-19 in KZN stands at 7,706,737 and the total number of people that have been tested totals 136,149.
