Second Covid-19-related closure at Drakensberg Secondary School

The three-day shutdown allows Health Department to disinfect the school as well as trace, isolate and test everyone that has come in contact with a person that tested positive for Covid-19

Drakensberg Secondary School has had to suspend teaching and learning for three days after learners tested positive for Covid-19.

Since educators and learners returned to school amid the lockdown on June 8, this has been the second time that this school had to temporarily close.

Parents and guardians received a letter from the school’s deputy principal today (July 21) advising them the school will be closed from July 21 to July 24.

As previously explained by Education Department spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi, the three-day shutdown allows Health Department to disinfect the school as well as trace, isolate and test everyone that has come in contact with a person that tested positive for Covid-19.

The secondary school will re-open on Monday (July 27).
