WATCH: CBD clean-up undertaken by proactive locals

Teams were stationed from Lorne Street, along Drummond Road and into the CBD

A group of locals has undertaken a proactive approach to clean up some of the streets in the central business district (CBD).

Teams were stationed from Lorne Street, along Drummond Road and into the CBD.

Within a few minutes of picking up and bagging the rubbish, there was a remarkable difference in Lorne Street.

The clean-up project was initiated by Catherine Buys.

After being away from Estcourt for 35 years, Ms Buys says when she returned, she could not believe how the town had deteriorated.

“It’s a horrible place to live in. We have come to the end of what we can tolerate. The time for talking is over,” said Ms Buys.

Locals were assisted by Ward 10 councillor Edith Lite who deployed eight teams to assist.
