NEWCASTLE: SARS advises taxpayers to book appointments

SARS Newcastle is also adhering to Covid-19 regulations and safety protocols.

South African Revenue Services (SARS) Newcastle has encouraged taxpayers to book for appointments, instead of going to the branch.

Speaking to the Newcastle Advertiser, Nomusa Gumede from SARS said for safety purposes and a prompt response to taxpayers’ queries, an appointment would ensure a person doesn’t need to wait in queues.

“We strongly encourage taxpayers to book for an appointment on our website: www.sars.gov.za and select ‘Book an appointment’ and it will further direct you to a booking form that you will have to fill in. We work Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm. A person must book an appointment between those times by choosing a day and a time,” she explained.

If a person chooses to come to the office, they may find there are system issues and they would have to then wait, added Gumede.

SARS Newcastle is adhering to Covid-19 regulations and safety protocols, by making hand sanitisers available to taxpayers who visit the branch, ensuring that all work and service areas frequently touched are constantly cleaned; doing screening and filling in contact information forms at the entrance to the branch.
