Vryheid KZN: Tackling water issues in town
The frequent water interruptions had forced the organisation to erect an emergency water point to assist the community

As the water supply is often a problem in Vryheid due to pumps and pipes breaking, AfriForum has erected an emergency water point to supply water to the community in times of need. André van der Walt, chairperson of the Vryheid branch, said that the frequent water interruptions had forced the organisation to erect an emergency water point to assist the community during these interruptions. “We see daily how the infrastructure in KwaZulu-Natal is deteriorating and AfriForum is disappointed that the municipality does not want to accept the community’s help. We can solve problems together. If not, our AfriForum branches will become involved themselves and make other possibilities available,” said Eugene van Aswegen, AfriForum’s district co-ordinator for KwaZulu-Natal.
AfriForum’s Vryheid branch would like to thank the following sponsors who helped make this project possible: TWK, Vryheid Build It, Vryheid Afrimat and Hein Schonborn.
