Endumeni motorists say they will do ‘Top up Tuesday’ ahead of huge fuel price hike

Motorists are bracing themselves for more pain at the fuel pump with the petrol price set to increase by around R3.33.

A strong majority of motorists taking part in a Courier poll said they planned to fill up their vehicles before the latest fuel price increase took effect at midnight on Tuesday.

Of the 3respondents, 84% said they would fill up, while 16% said they would not.

The poll, posted on the Courier’s WhatsApp platform, had attracted 381 views at the time the results were recorded.

The poll followed the announcement of the latest fuel price increases, with the new prices from October 7 set at R3.33 for ULP, R3.24 for 50PPM diesel and R3.58 for IP.

The results suggest that, despite the additional cost involved in filling up before the increase, most respondents were keen to avoid paying the higher prices for as long as possible.

The poll is not intended to represent scientific public opinion, but provides a snapshot of the views of Courier readers who participated.
