Ladysmith KZN: Bypass littered with carcasses
The stench is unbearable and thousands of flies are constantly swarming around
Motorists rocket along the ‘bypass’ at speeds in excess of 100km/h, so animals along that stretch of road just outside town presents an incredibly dangerous situation.
Ladysmith resident Mr Andries van Eck, who regularly takes his dogs for walks in the area, has noticed numerous dead animals at the side of the road and even in the road itself.
Mr van Eck also saw that a gate where livestock have been kept has fallen over, allowing the animals to freely walk in the road, which is a risk to motorists.

From sheep to cows and goats, carcasses are all over the area, causing a major health hazard. The stench is unbearable and thousands of flies are constantly swarming over the carcasses.
Mr van Eck hopes that something will be done to help stop animals from moving freely on the roadway, as “a major vehicle crash is waiting to happen”.
Mr van Eck also hopes that the farmer who owns the livestock will go and collect the carcasses.
