The workers are protesting against retrenchments and 'short-time'
Striking workers blocked the Helpmekaar Road with rocks and stones today (October 21) near the Sumitomo Dunlop factory.
The ongoing strike started last week Monday (October 12), with workers protesting against retrenchments and proposed ‘short-time’.

The area was cleared by a Municipal TLB once strikers had dispersed.
