NEWCASTLE KZN: Municipality refutes rumours of faeces in water supply

The municipality will be launching an investigation into the origins of the 'fake notice'.

The Newcastle Municipality’s Communications unit, headed by Mlungisi Khumalo, has issued an urgent notice following a notice circulating with ‘misleading misinformation’.

“The municipality, together with Uthukela Water has conducted thorough tests of water quality in Charlestown and can confirm that no signs of ‘Coliform’ were detected in reservoirs or drinking taps,” confirmed Khumalo.

He added that the notice (pictured) was therefore misleading.

“The municipality is deeply concerned about the spread of this malicious rumour and will launch an investigation to determine the origin of the fake notice,” continued Khumalo, who also provided the following ‘Coliform’ test results for public scrutiny and for an accurate reading:
