DUNDEE KZN: Wednesday is by-election day in Endumeni, Nquthu

With by-election days being none public holidays, poor voter turn outs are expected across the country

Wednesday, May 19, is a by-election time in the area. Endumeni’s Ward 2 became vacant following the death of former Mayor, Thulani Mahaye, earlier this year.

Three parties are contesting, the ANC, EFF and IFP. The DA has chosen not to as they say it would be ‘pointless with the Local Government Elections due on October 27’ with the party choosing to plough resources into this election Ward 11 in  Nquthu will be fiercely contested with former Mayor Mabilabila being expelled earlier from the IFP.

The IEC confirmed that five political parties, the IFP, ANC, Napa, NFP and EFF will contest this ward. With by-election days being none public holidays, poor voter turn outs are expected across the country where over 145 candidates from 29 political parties are set to contested in 40 wards.
