Ladysmith KZN: 3 injured in rear-end crash on R616 Bergville road

The SAPS, ambulance services and towing services were at the scene

Earlier today (June 7), a Toyota single-cab bakkie was involved in a rear-end collision with a car on the R616, past the Winterton turn-off.

The driver and two passengers in the Toyota (from a cattle farm in Bergville) sustained multiple injuries and were rushed to hospital by emergency personnel. The driver sustained severe head injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured. Speaking to him, he said he was in a state of shock and was ‘lost’ as to what had just happened.

The manager of the cattle farm commented that ‘his guys’ who were in the Toyota were lucky to be alive, as the airbags did not inflate.

Police, emergency personnel and towing services were on scene. Traffic was disrupted and was controlled by a traffic official.
