On Tuesday, June 8, the Klipriver Taxi Association provided children in Ward 15 with sports kits for a tournament that will be taking place on the 16th (Youth Day). The association is providing soccer and netball kits, as well as medals for the winners.

They say they want to do more good within the community they are serving.

Speaking on behalf of the taxi association, chairperson Mr Masondo said their wish is to see this tournament growing and involving more teams from all municipal wards. “We are hoping that next year, the very same organisers will be available so that there is continuity. We will always lend a helping hand where we can, more especially when it comes to the youth,” said Masondo.

Ward 15 resident Nontokozo Zwane said they are very pleased with what the taxi association is doing. “There are no proper programmes to assist the youth, so for us to have this initiative in our area is something we are very grateful for. We are hoping they will continue to help us in the future,” said Zwane.
