Ladysmith KZN: R602 still closed by protesters

Police dispersed the crowd, but they came back and blocked the road again

After police intervention, the protesters blocking the R602 between Ladysmith and Glencoe were dispersed and the road was opened. But that didn’t last long, as the protesters went back and blocked the road again.

They say they want to see the construction of a new bridge taking place before they open the road.

According to the community, many political leaders from opposition parties are trying to use ‘their misery’ to score political points and they say they are not willing to listen to anyone anymore, except if that person is going to tell them when the bridge is going to be built.

Motorists are advised not to use the R602 and use alternative routes instead to avoid delays.
