Sarel Cilliers head girl Thobeka Khoza took part in the NSFM Youth Day Take Over 2021 on Neutral Stereo FM, making her radio debut as part of the High School Edition.

Thobeka was teamed up with Mthokozisi Mlambo from Dundee High School and the two made a formidable team, introducing the play list and taking questions from listeners. Filling in the slot from 3pm to 6pm, it was an exciting experience that will be remembered for many a year and a wonderful opportunity for the learners to develop new talents.

Public speaking competition

Mpilenhe Zikalala (Grade 11) recently took part in the South African Literary Association (SALA) public speaking competition in the English Home Language section. With entries sent in via video format, it was a daunting task to get it just right, but Mpilenhle managed to create a very positive impression, achieving an A+ grade and moving forward to take part in the finals.

With entries from all across South Africa, this is a great achievement. Entrants were allowed to choose their own topics and then had to deliver a speech within the competition parameters. Mpilenhle, we wish you all the best in the finals.
