Ladysmith KZN: Angling club members net more and more ‘big ones’

At the weigh-in, the 'Angler of the Day' prize went to Darshan Govender, with second and third place going to Vishaal Boros and Ritesh Ramlutchman respectively

Klip River Angling Club was at it again when they hosted yet another successful club outing at Spioenkop Dam recently. The icy waters and winter chill did not stop the anglers from heading out and having a good time, landing some great catches as well.

Speaking to Lloyd Jugdawooh, he said that Spioenkop Dam has recently been producing some good fish and that the winter chill just makes the fishing experience more exciting.

“You get the rods into the water and wait for a bite while sipping on some hot coffee,” he smiles.

At the weigh-in for the club members, the ‘Angler of the Day’ prize went to Darshan Govender, with second and third place going to Vishaal Boros and Ritesh Ramlutchman respectively. The ‘Junior Angler of the Day’ prize went to Riav Ramlutchman.

The club hopes they can get as many junior anglers as possible among their ranks so that they can keep the sport of fishing alive, and also keep teaching the youngsters so they can in turn pass on these skills to the next generation of anglers.

Lloyd adds that the club will be taking a break from fishing for a few weeks until the third wave of the coronavirus passes, for the safety of the anglers and their families.

The Klip River Angling Club is growing from strength to strength, and also in numbers. They are now a force to be reckoned with, as their anglers continue to learn more and more on every outing.
