ESTCOURT KZN: Peace prevails at prison while protest action sparks in province
Direct entrance to the prison is prohibited and the road is cordoned off

Despite sporadic protest action in defiance of Jacob Zuma’s imprisonment being reported in KwaZulu-Natal, it’s a quiet, uneventful day in Mcfarlane Street where the former president is housed at the Estcourt Correctional Centre.

National media can still be seen waiting in and around their vehicles.
Across KZN, protests have sparked, calling for the release of Mr Zuma.
Labelled Shutdown KZN, multiple businesses and roads have been closed.
Allegations that offenders at the Estcourt Correctional Centre had embarked on a hunger strike in support of Mr Zuma’s release have been rubbished by Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo who called it ‘pure misinformation.’
