Ladysmith KZN: Zinhle takes top spot at Durban marathon

She came first in the women's section in a blistering time of 2 hours and 44 minutes

Zinhle Shabalala from Xcel Running Club in Ladysmith took on the Durban International Marathon on Sunday  (September 5).

Zinhle has been flying the Ladysmith flag high over the past few years, claiming many titles in well-known running events.

This was the inaugural Durban International Marathon, over a distance of 42.2km.

Zinhle did not disappoint and came first in the women’s section in a blistering time of two hours and 44 minutes.

Speaking to her coach, Vumo Ngubane, he says the weather conditions were perfect for running, as it was cloudy and cool.

Last weekend’s race was great preparation for the upcoming Cape Town Marathon, which will be taking place in October.

Zinhle puts in many hours of training and this definitely pays off, as she continues to notch up outstanding results. Well done, Zinhle, on your first place in Durban!
