Ladysmith KZN: Locals excited to participate in Cape Town Cycle Tour

The race is over 100km long

Six Ladysmith cyclists headed to the Western Cape this weekend to participate in the Cape Town Cycle Tour.

This is one of South Africa’s biggest cycling events and this year will be the 43rd edition.

The group had training on Friday (October 8) and also collected their race numbers. According to Mr Clerk, who is one of the six, only vaccinated cyclists may ride. “We had to show our vaccination cards in order to participate,” he said.

Yesterday morning (October 9), the team had an enthusiastic training session as they cycled to Llandudno.

Today (October 10), the cyclists will be doing the actual race and are super excited.

The race is usually 109km long. The money raised from the Cape Town Cycle Tour and its sub-events in Lifecycle Week go to its two beneficiaries, namely the Pedal Power Association (PPA) and the Rotary Club of Claremont.
