VRYHEID KZN: Jabulani has ‘iron’ in his legs

A special mention goes to Jabulani Xulu, who did his fourth race in November

What a busy month November has been, with so many cycling races to choose from. The races were well supported by Vryheid cyclists and the club is proud to report on the results. The very popular Tour Durban road cycling event took place last Sunday, with no less than eight Vryheid cyclists competing. Well done to Blessing Phiri (4:25) and Mpume Buthelezi (3:35) for completing the 85km race. Amos Nonyana also finished the Tour Durban race and Khulekani Xhakaza completed the 44km distance in 1:53. A special congratulations to the following cyclists for completing the main race of 126km: Thabani Xaba (4:04), Jabulani Xulu (4:11). Mlungisi Zulu (3:52) and Nathi Maklina (5:21). Nathi says it was a great race, but that the wind is definitely not his friend. Well done to all who conquered the race in the windy and warm coastal conditions, and thank you for keeping the Vryheid flag flying high.

A special mention goes to Jabulani Xulu, who did his fourth race in November, starting with the Ladysmith 44km Mountain Bike Race, then the Ride Joburg Race and the 50km Mountain Bike Race in extremely hot conditions. And Jabulani followed it up with the Ride Joburg 95km Road Race before Sunday’s Tour Durban. Well done, Jabu, you are an inspiration!
