DUNDEE KZN: Congratulations to the class of 2021

“Life begins after matric”, there is nothing such as that.

Congratulations to the class of 2021. Reaching grade 12 alone is nothing but a huge achievement hence passing the grade automatically becomes a bonus. Unfortunately, the stats prove that not everyone managed to pass, some didn’t make it due to different circumstances. Failing matric hurts, a lot but it doesn’t mean it’s worth killing yourself, actually, there is no need to even give up in life after realising that you have failed in something, whatever that thing is.

Failure is nothing but part of life and I am glad that also I failed my first matric attempt but I managed to dust myself up. “Life begins after matric”, there is nothing such as that. Your life began when you were born and it will end the day you will die. Failing is not bad if it doesn’t attack the heart. You can always try again and when you do, make sure that you try all your best. Remember life offers us many choices and chances including shortcuts. Some mistake we tend to do after we fall is to think that shortcuts are somehow a quick solution to our problems. You can try shortcuts but it is only fair that I let you know that your victory out of shortcuts will also be cut short. After failing, just go back to the drawing board and put in some extra effort, and trust me you won’t be disappointed with the outcomes.

To those former learners who managed to obtain good marks on their matric results, I just hope they at least tried to have proper planning for their future. I don’t want to say “life begins after matric”, NO! as that is what I call; unnecessary pressure. Proper planning is always essential and I believe that you don’t have to wait for something or positive outcomes to happen before you begin with planning. Whenever you get a chance, make sure that you have proper planning. Planning alone proves that you are organised.

Hugh Masekela once composed and sang a song with such lyrics “I wanna be there when the people start to turn it around, when they triumph over poverty, I wanna be there when people win the battle against AIDS, I wanna lend a hand, I wanna be there for the alcoholic, I wanna be there for the drug addict, I wanna be there for the victims of violence and abuse, I wanna lend a hand, Send me to the nations”
