Historic win caps Ferrum’s sporting weekend –
Ferrum’s first rugby XV clinched victory over Hoërskool Pionier (Vryheid) at the conclusion of the Super 16 Sport Day on Saturday (March 5).
This historic win marked the first time in more than a decade that Ferrum overcame Pionier. It also means that Ferrum is now one step closer to the knock-out rounds of the NWU PUK-16 series.
Ferrum will face Piet Retief this week to determine who advances in the competition.
Rugby was just one of the attractions at Ferrum’s ‘Market’ on Saturday – Pionier and Ferrum also clashed on the netball court and hockey rink, with stalls to browse and food on sale.
The weekend also included the Mpumalanga Open, where air rifle competitors aimed to be the best.
