Natu acting president visits Estcourt

The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on issues currently impacting on education

The National Teachers Union (Natu) uMtshezi branch held its first mass meeting on February 24.

The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on issues currently impacting on education, such as surplus educators and placement of educators, and also give feedback on current salary negotiations.

While gathered at the meeting, which was held at the Papkuilsfontein Community Hall, the members received a surprise visit from Natu acting president Mr SV Malinga, who then addressed them.

When he entered the hall. the members stood up as a sign of respect and sang ‘Malinga Mholi wethu, siyakuxelela, amandla aseszimemben’, which translates to ‘Malinga, our leader, we tell you this, your powers are in the hands of the members’.

Vice-president Dlamini and Estcourt regional chairperson Mr Magubane also attended the meeting.
