Faulty streetlights lead to more and more burglaries in Dundee?
The 'dysfunctionality of the town's streetlights has been an ongoing problem for years now.
The community of Dundee is outraged by the fact that so many streetlights do not work in the area.
Residents say this has, in turn, increased the number of burglaries that are happening under the cover of darkness.
“We will not rest until Endumeni Municipality takes accountability and gives our infrastructure the attention it deserves. I have complained numerous times to our councillor, to no avail,” said a concerned resident who did not wish to be named.
He continued that, “These streets and many others have become prone to burglaries and it seems like Endumeni Technical Services do not care about our well-being.”
Another concerned resident, whose identity is known to the Courier, said:
“The ‘dysfunctionality’ of our town’s streetlights has been an ongoing problem for years now.
“We notify the Technical Services Department, only for them to fix one street and not move on to the next.
“No routine checks are done by our councillor and we have knocked at her door to bring attention to this problem.
“If she does notify Technical Services, they only do a few streets and not all of them.
“Now we want to know: When does Cllr Sadeck do routine checks?
“Is there even an administration plan in place, aimed at fixing the town’s broken lights?”
The Technical Services Department was contacted for comment, but none had been received at the time of going to print.
