MEC to roll out district vaccination campaign –

The KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane will join former soccer stars on a Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Osizweni this Saturday (March 26). The campaign is appropriately named ‘Sidlala Sigomile’ (we play while vaccinated).

Former footballers, including Brilliant Khuzwayo, Mbulelo Mabizela, Siyabonga Sangweni, Papi Zothwane, Vusumuzi Vilakazi, Japhet Zwane and more, will face a local invitational side as the day’s highlight.

However, the main focus of the weekend is encouraging the 4 192-million KZN residents – who have yet to receive a Covid-19 jab – to safeguard themselves against the coronavirus.

MEC Simelane is worried that unvaccinated residents potentially put themselves and their loved ones at risk of severe infection from Covid-19. She warned that those who have not received the jab can get sick for longer periods of time and are more likely to transmit the virus to others.

The MEC, soccer stars and more celebrities will also conduct door-to-door visits in Osizweni.

The campaign will take place at the Osizweni Stadium from 10:00.
