One fatality and multiple serious injuries have been reported, following a vehicle rollover a few kilometres outside of Newcastle.

It has been confirmed a passenger vehicle overturned between Grey Goose and Lentevlei between 14:00 and 15:00 today (April 1). Sources indicate that the accident left one person dead and another three people seriously hurt, including a child.

Emergency services and authorities are currently on the scene, including multiple ambulance teams.

Motorists are advised to use caution when travelling out of Newcastle towards Memel at this stage. However, the road is said to be re-opening to traffic once again.

The cause of the rollover is not confirmed and remains subject to official investigations by the authorities.
