Level of Ntshingwayo Dam increases marginally –
The current level of the Ntshingwayo (Chelmsford) Dam is up to 77.9% of its capacity, from 77.3% last week.
The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) reported that in general, the Umgeni Water Supply System remained at full capacity, despite a slight decrease from 102.5% last week to 101.5% this week.
This is a vast improvement when compared to a similar period last year when it stood at 83.9%,” commented the DWS Spokesperson, Sputnik Ratau.
In its weekly dam levels report for KwaZulu-Natal, the DWS reported the following additional figures:
Midmar Dam decreased marginally from 101% to 100.8% of its capacity this week
Driel Barrage increased from 79.6% to 96.7% this week
Woodstock Dam is up from 88% to 91.1%
Zaaihoek Dam is unchanged at 90.6% of its current capacity
Wagendrift Dam saw a slight decline from 103.2% to 101.8% this week
Nagle Dam dropped marginally from 102.6% to 101.9%
Albert Falls Dam is down from 103.1% to 101.9%
Inanda Dam recorded a decline from 103.7% to 103.1%
Hazelmere Dam improved from 55.7% of its capacity last week, to 58.3% this week
Mearns Dam saw a slight drop from 115.5% to 110.3%
Spring Grove Dam decreased marginally from 101.9% to 101.4%
Goedertrouw Dam also saw a slight drop from 86% to 85.9%
Klipfontein Dam is up from 100.5% to 101.3% this week
Hluhluwe Dam dropped slightly from 69.1% to 68.3%
Pongolapoort Dam recorded a minimal decrease from 83.8% to 83.2%
Bivane Dam saw a minor decline from 100.9% to 100.8%
