Loskop duo arrested for illegal firearm possession

One of the firearms recovered during the police operation in Loskop.

Two men have been arrested and charged after police found unlicensed firearms in their possession.

The recoveries were made during a joint intelligence-driven operation held in the Silimangamehlo area of Loskop (Amangwe) during the early hours of Monday (April 4).

“An AK-47 with an empty magazine and a pump-action shotgun with ammunition were recovered during the operation,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

The recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing while the suspects will be profiled to ascertain if they have been involved in any other crimes in the district.
