Cheap materials used to repair potholes?

Half of the road has turned into a 'pothole paradise'

A resident of Leonard Road says the municipality uses cheap materials to repair potholes and that is why they just reappear in the same places again.

The resident is up in arms with Alfred Duma Local Municipality because half of the road has turned into a ‘pothole paradise’.

He says that potholes in the area are impeding traffic and also causing undue wear and tear on vehicles, forcing motorists to swerve onto the other side of the road to avoid the massive craters.

“Hitting a pothole even at the speed limit can pop a tyre, damage a car or even pose a physical threat to drivers and pedestrians. After months of complaints, a pothole is repaired and after two weeks it’s back again,” fumes the frustrated resident.

According to him, the reason why potholes are just ‘born again’ is that the municipality is using cheap materials.
