Community urged to support ‘Socks for Smiles’ this October
Help fund reconstructive surgery for children.
The Champ Group is partnering up with the Smile Foundation to sell stickers for their annual Socks for Smiles Day on October 16.
Johan Pieters is encouraging all businesses, schools and residents to get involved, support the cause and help give a child their smile back.
“The Smile Foundation runs the Socks for Smiles campaign, which invites people to buy a R20 sticker and wear mismatched or funky socks for the day,” said Pieters.
Socks for Smiles is an annual national campaign centred around celebrating what makes us different, spreading a little kindness and, most importantly, helping change the lives of children who need specialised surgery.

What is the Smile Foundation?
The Smile Foundation provides life-changing surgery and psychosocial support to children living with facial abnormalities and burns.
Their vision is to ensure that every child in South Africa has access to life-changing reconstructive surgery, no matter their circumstances.
The Smile Foundation began with one child and a call for help that reached Nelson Mandela, sparking a vision to make sure that specialised reconstructive surgery is accessible in South Africa.
Rather than sending children overseas for treatment, the focus shifted to building local expertise by bringing international specialists to train South African doctors. This approach laid the foundation for a more sustainable way to deliver care.
What started as a single act of compassion has grown into a national organisation, working with public hospitals and medical teams to transform the lives of thousands of children.
How you can get involved:
Everyone can get involved, and schools can also use this as a civvies day.
All funds raised go directly toward reconstructive surgeries for children with facial conditions and burns.
The Champ Group will facilitate the sale and delivery of the stickers.
“Once you let us know how many stickers to order for your organisation, we will send you the Smile Foundation’s banking details for direct payment to their account,” said Pieters.
Johan Pieters can be contacted on 082 923 0078.
“We look forward to partnering with your business or school for this wonderful cause.”
