Traffic lights out of action all over town

There have been mounting complaints about faulty robots around Dundee.
This situation has led to traffic congestion during peak hours in town.
Motorists told the Courier that this has been an ongoing problem in Dundee, especially in main roads like Victoria Street, as well as at the corner of Beaconsfield and Wilson Street.
“We are dealing with undrivable roads with big potholes and on top of that, we have to deal with the frustration of faulty traffic lights.
“Some streets have not had any functioning streetlights for months now and our plea to the municipality has fallen on deaf ears,” says motorist Siyanda Nxumalo.
According to Nxumalo, the main cause of this dilemma is lack of maintenance.
“It’s understandable having no traffic lights when there are power outages in the area, but I think that most of these traffic lights are deteriorating and faulty.”
Fellow motorist Anna de Wet, who drives along Beaconsfield Street every day on her way to work, said, “The traffic lights at the corner of Wilson and Beaconsfield Street have not been working for months now and I have reported this on numerous occasions to the municipality, but nothing has been done about it.
“I think the only time Endumeni Municipality cares about service delivery and community work is when they want votes. After that, they don’t care much about us.”
De Wet also complained about the potholes all around town that have not been fixed for years now.
Endumeni Municipality was contacted, but no response had been received at the time of going to print.
