Rising to the occasion to beat Vryheid Landbou

May 4 was yet another exceptional day for Dundee High School’s (DHS) sports teams as they faced Vryheid Landbou. In the blink of an eye, Dundee were ahead in most of their games.
DHS won all the matches except the U/16 rugby boys, who had a tough time but played a great game nevertheless.
The results for the first teams are as follows:
1st rugby team (Zorbas): 22-17. Honourable mentions to the try scorers: Lulama Ndebele, Melokuhle Zulu and Mpumelelo Ntuli.
1st chess team (Red Knights): won 6.5 to 3.5.
1st netball team (Smurfs): 28-2. Honourable mention to the ‘Player of the Match’: Lonwabo Khumalo.
1st team girls’ hockey (Spartans): 5-1. Honourable mentions to the goal scorers: Ziyanda Madondo, Lwandle Dubazane and Rihané Kruger.
Fun, exciting competition against Newcastle High School (NHS)
Excitement filled the air on Saturday as our athletes and coaches from various teams prepared to leave for Newcastle at 7:00 in the morning.
The adrenaline was tangible in the air as the teams prepared for the day’s games.
School life is so much more than just books and classrooms, and it was lovely to be out on the fields again, watching athletes do what they do best.
The scores were as follows:
Rugby:
NHS unfortunately only had an U/15 team, but they gave our boys a good run for their money. We won 36-7.
Netball:
U/14 won 9-4, U/15 drew 6-6, U/16 won 10-5, 2nd team lost 11-14, and the first team won 30-15. We would also like to congratulate our Smurfs (1st netball team) for winning their game in the Mayoral Cup League game on Sunday with a convincing score of 41-1.
Well done girls!
Hockey:
The girls’ 2nd team won 4-0 and the Spartans won 7-0.
The boys also had great games, with the 2nd team boys winning 1-0 and the first team boys also winning 1-0, with COLAB holding their name high.
