Man murdered on Albert Wessels Drive –

Detectives from Newcastle SAPS are investigating a case of murder. According to Lizzy Arumugam from Corporate Communications, a man was discovered on Albert Wessels Drive this morning (May 19) with a stab wound to the back.

She said the body was discovered in the veld behind a house at around 06:00. The victim is described as an African male in his late 20s.

He was discovered with socks but no shoes. However, slip-on shoes, a blanket, a shambok and a ladder were discovered about 50 metres away from his body.”

Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. They discovered a small stab wound to his back, which is believed to have been caused by a thin implement such as a screwdriver.

The victim is yet to be identified. Anyone with information regarding the stabbing, or who may be able to identify the victim, is urged to contact Newcastle SAPS on 034 314 6166.
