Newcastle Lions raises R100K at wine auction –
Members of the Newcastle Lions Club are overwhelmed by the support they received from the community, following the first annual wine auction in more than two years.
The highly anticipated event took place on the evening of May 20.
We raised approximately R100 000, which will be used to give back to the community, with a particular focus on teenagers and small children,” said the President of the Newcastle Lions Club, Nicolette Baney.
According to Baney, approximately 40 bottles of wine were auctioned off on the night. This included a special box containing six bottles of wine, donated by the Kirkland family from the late Allan Kirkland’s collection.
The box was auctioned off for a massive R50 000.
