One person injured in crash on Ladysmith bypass

Public Safety officers were on scene to direct traffic flow

A Volkswagen Citi Golf hit a cow along the Ladysmith bypass last night (June 9).

A 14-year-old boy, who was in the backseat with his sister, commented that his dad was driving and his grandmother was in the front passenger seat. The boy said it all happened so quickly; one moment the road was clear and the next moment a cow was in their path and there was no time to swerve out of the way.

“My gran was injured and paramedics attended to her in the ambulance. My little sister and I were in complete shock after the crash, but grateful that we were not injured.”

Two head of cattle were wandering along the bypass when the crash happened. The one that was hit by the car was killed.

The grandmother was taken to hospital for a medical checkup.
