Second annual men’s conference held at Majuba TVET College

Guest speaker Prince Nhlanganiso Zulu encouraged the boys to circumcise and join campaigns against the Aids virus.

Majuba TVET College’s health & wellness committee hosted yet another successful ‘Adolescent Boys & Young Men’s Dialogue’ (Isibaya Samadoda) recently.
This was the second edition of this workshop, where young boys are given a safe space to discuss topics such as crime prevention, mental health, drugs and substance abuse, gender-based violence, and HIV/Aids prevention.
The day started with soccer matches for the students to spread the message that exercise is important to stay healthy.
This year’s theme was ‘Building Winners Out Of Ordinary Men’.
Guest speaker Prince Nhlanganiso Zulu encouraged the boys to circumcise and join campaigns against the Aids virus.
“We are grateful for this opportunity so that our male students are given a chance to discuss solutions rather than problems as we combat women abuse, as well as drug and substance abuse,” said campus manager Patrick Dladla.
Health services were also offered on campus, such as male circumcision, HIV/Aids testing and counselling, as well as sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatment, TB screening, diabetes, blood pressure, oral care and eye testing.
