Dannhauser Angling Club crowned league champions
Dannhauser AC is currently in poll position on (26 points), followed by Challengers AC (26 points).
The Mohamed Midas League is becoming a nail-biting affair with the winner of each round being difficult to predict.
Dannhauser AC dominated League 3 fishing at Sandford on November 6 with 86 points, followed by Challengers AC (72 points), Breakwaters AC (57 points), Glencoe AC (32 points), Freshwater Spartans AC (30 points), and Stillwaters AC (30 points) (29 points).
The standout anglers were Dannhauser AC’s Inaayat Ahmed (19 points) and his partner, Nerash Surajballi (16 points), who appeared to have a better understanding of the dreaded Zone C.
Inaayat was named APL Angler of the Day and was given the blue cap, an outright trophy and R200 for his outstanding performance. Freshwater Spartans made their APL debut this season and with a young squad of anglers, they look destined to reach greater heights in future competitions.

The top three APL anglers were:
- Kaveer Singh (CAC 35 points),
- Inaayat Ahmed (NDH 30 points),
- Aniel Boodhoo (SAC 22 pts).
Top club anglers were:
- Ashvir J Singh (BAC 13 points),
- Vis Pillay (NGL 12 points),
- Sonja Du Plooy (Freshwater Spartans 10 points).
Other winners were:
- Henning De Meyer (NDH heaviest carp of 3,550kg);
- Nikesh Dookhi (NGL – heaviest non-scaled category 3,370 kg);
- Sonja Du Plooy (Freshwater Spartans AC – Lady Angler of the Year – 10 points);
- Yahyaa Abdool (NDH); Abhay Singh and Jessica Smith (SAC) – Junior Angler of the Year 2 points) and NGL Senior Angler of the Year on 11 points).
The APL’s next match is League 4 at Richgate Park on November 20 which promises to be another epic battle as anglers and clubs go guns blazing in pursuit of glory.
Mohamed Midas and the Angler of the Day will sponsor the Angling Professional League, while Ahmed Yusuf Amedjee of AA Coaches will sponsor the knock out competition and grand challenge.
The APL received a massive cash infusion as a result of these sponsorships with the top three Anglers of the Year receiving R3 000, R2 000 and R1 000 worth of tackle vouchers sponsored by Mohamed Midas with the angler of the year winning the ultimate prize; a family weekend worth R4 000.
The top angler from each club who does not finish in the top three overall will receive a R250 tackle voucher for their achievements within their club.
This year’s lady angler of the year will receive an R1 000 tackle voucher.
