Family loses everything in devastating Aviary Hill house fire
An Aviary Hill family lost everything after a raging fire destroyed their home in the early hours of Monday morning (July 24).
Magenta Medical and Security Services were called to the scene in Uil Street just after 4:00.
According to sources, it’s believed the fire started in the granny flat on the premises, before spreading to the main house, destroying everything in its wake.
Fortunately, everyone in both the buildings were able to escape the burning flames unscathed.
However, the aftermath has left the tenants with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and in desperate need for help in rebuilding their lives over again.
Ruth Lovelock, who started a back-a-buddy account to help those affected.
They are an elderly lady, living in the granny-flat, lost everything including her glasses and false teeth, which would now need to be replaced.
The family residing in the main house has also lost everything they owned.
The family consists of an adult male, adult female, an elderly female and a six-month-old baby girl.
“Any donations will be highly appreciated to help this family in their time of need,” Lovelock said.
The Newcastle community has been quick to come together after news broke of the fire to offer moral and emotional support, helping the family with much-needed necessities such as clothes, food, and shelter.
“We are all very grateful for the donations that have been received, and we pray that the Lord will open people’s hearts to assist in any way possible’, said a statement on the back-a-buddy account.
