District municipality engages men on local issues
The programme aims to provide men with the knowledge and resources they need to realise their full potential and make informed decisions.
The Amajuba district held Isibaya Samadoda, a programme dedicated to men’s empowerment, on July 21 at the Osizweni community hall.
The programme is led by Mayor Cllr Ndabuko Zulu and traditional leader Inkosi Kubheka and supported by the Kwazulu-Natal Department of Community Safety and Liaison, the Department of Health, Social Development, SAPS, and Correctional Services.
Cllr Ndabuko Zulu delivered the keynote address, stating that “all men must be exemplary, must unite, and must lead from the front to fight crime and all social ills.”
The day’s topics included gender-based violence, the role of traditional leaders in crime prevention, the role of men in raising male children, gangsterism among youth in Osizweni and the Abaqondisi (a local crime fighting group) and the role the group should play in fighting crime.
