Karate Champion seeks support to fulfill dreams of competing in Tokyo

A Madadeni karate student is asking for support from the Newcastle community to help get her to an upcoming karate competition in Tokyo, Japan.

Sinazo Tshabalala, 29, has been selected to participate in the 13th World Karate Tournament.

The karate athlete has been participating in the sport since 2004. She advanced in the sport , finally obtaining her Dan black belt in 2019, becoming the first woman in Newcastle to achieve it.

Sinazo believes that karate saved from falling into negative habits.

Sinazo is asking for help to cover her travel and accommodation expenses after gathering funds and paying for her visa. She is grateful that some businesses and individuals have donated, but a  sizable sum still remains to be raised.
