Young man dreams of empowering the youth

As the director of the Vryheid Boxing and UFC Club, Sifiso Mazibuko is passionate about helping the youth to reach their full potential.
Known by many as ‘Sifuzo’, this 25-year-old grew up in different places and said he had to move from ‘pillar to post’ after his parents died. He currently lives at Nkamana Abby, where Good Samaritans took him in.
Mazibuko aspires to be an entrepreneur who focuses on youth development and empowerment. He has a dream of opening a centre where young people can take part in boxing, play chess, as well as recording music. He says this will be a ladder for young people to reach their full potential. “I have knocked on the relevant doors and I’m still trying my best to fulfil this dream. This is not about me, but rather the community at large. I believe that if this project is implemented, lots of people will benefit, as jobs will be created and people will have a stepping stone towards accomplishing their goals.” He further explained that there will also be self-defence training, where the youth will learn how to defend themselves and fight against gender-based violence.
