A prize for every golfer at St Dom’s annual golf day

St Dominic's annual golf day was a great success this past Saturday (April 20).

84 golfers participated in the schools annual golf day.

Raymond van Niekerk, the St. Dominics Operational Head of Sport and Community Engagement, thanked the Newcastle community for its ongoing support of the event and referred to the golf days as one of the school’s largest community engagement initiatives.

“We look forward to this calendar event as it gives us an opportunity to engage with the local golfers as well as the local business community,” said Van Niekerk.

The games got off to a shotgun start and followed the 4-ball scramble format.

Van Niekerk commended the Newcastle Golf Club for its excellent maintenance of the course, a factor he said contributed, in no small part, to the success of the golf day, “The golf course is in really good condition and the weather played its part, which was awesome,” he said.

“It was truly a fun vibe on the course, all the golfers supported each other and everyone had a good time,” he added.

“At Curro every child matter and at the St Domincs Golf Day, every golfer matters. That’s why we ensure there are prizes for every golfer so that no one walks away empty handed.”

“We are looking forward to the next one,” Van Niekerk concluded.

The results of the St Dominics Academy golf day were as follows:

1. B. Lackey/V. Nofomela (53 Points)
2. Keegan & Tony Sharp (48 Points onco)
3. Shaun Elliot/Ivan Smith (48 Points onco)
4. Louis Kruger/Louis Hsu (48 Points onco)
5. Adriaan Roux/Mike Swart (47 Points)

The Newcastle Golf Club sponsored golf day takes place this Saturday, April 27.
