Afgri Noord Natal Garden of the Year celebrates ‘colourful gardens’

The Afgri Noord Natal Garden of the Year annual competition concluded on February 8 with a vibrant Ladies' Morning hosted at Ferrum High School.

This year’s event, centred on the theme “Colourful Gardens,” was a true celebration of the beauty and creativity found in gardening.

Sixteen hostesses embraced the theme, decorating their table settings with colourful flowers and inviting guests to join them for a morning filled with inspiration and joy.

A total of 160 women attended the event, where the lively atmosphere was enhanced by their floral inspirations that decorated their table settings, laughter, and loads of entertainment.

Helena Zaal of Afgri Dundee delivered a heartfelt motivational speech, while artist Ruan Josh provided the musical entertainment, setting a cheerful tone for the gathering.

Gardening experts from Bark and Protek shared valuable tips and advice, making the event both educational and inspiring.

Congratulations to the following winners:

Farm Garden of the Year: Elana Cronjè.

School Garden of the Year: Busy Bee Primary School.

Busy Bee Primary School scooped the win in the School Garden Category. Pictured are Thalita van Wyk with Freddy, Aaron, Jabulani and Mischek who are the dedicated staff who help to maintain the school’s beautiful garden.

Residential Complex of the Year: Eike Park

Residential complex winners: Pieter Wheeler with Stanley and Bongani of Eikepark. “We are incredibly grateful for this win and would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the residents of Eikepark, whose dedication to maintaining their gardens played a key role in this achievement. A special thank you must also be given to Stanley and Bongani who work very hard at maintaining the entire complex’s garden and greenery. We would also like to thank Charmaine Marais for encouraging us to enter the Afgri Retail Northern Natal Garden of the Year Competition, as well as to the generous sponsors who made this all possible,” said Pieter Wheeler.

Town Residential Garden of the Year: Thalita van Wyk.
