36 bowlers compete in sponsored tournament
A little morning drizzle did not deter bowlers from Newcastle and surrounds from competing in the sponsored bowls tournament hosted by the Ncandu Bowling Club on Saturday, March 18.
Club chairperson, Titia Engelbrecht, said 36 players competed on the day, with the cool and cloudy conditions experienced later making for ideal weather for a day out on the greens.
Engelbrecht praised her team and the Club’s groundskeeper for keeping the greens in tip-top shape, remarking that this is the best condition the greens have been in since she joined in 2017.
The same cannot be said about the facilities surrounding the Ncandu Bowling Club at the Monte Vista Sports Complex which have fallen into disrepair.
Joan Schoon, Peet du Bruyn, and Bennie van Vuuren from Newcastle Bowling Club were the days’s winners.
