Correctional Services, in partnership with other government departments, marked Women’s Month at Glencoe Correctional Services with two days of vibrant celebrations on Wednesday and Thursday, August 28 and 29.
The programme opened with lively performances of song and dance, creating an atmosphere of joy and unity.
Master of ceremonies Londiwe Khuzwayo welcomed guests and participants, setting a positive tone for the day.
In her keynote address, NTA Moloi (area commissioner of Glencoe Correctional Services) urged women to embrace and assert their rights, both in South Africa and globally.
She reminded the audience that while significant progress has been made, more work is needed to ensure that women and girls can live free from discrimination and violence.
Throughout both days, speakers acknowledged the vital role of women in their families, workplaces and communities.
They praised their resilience, strength and unwavering contributions to society, noting that Women’s Month is not just a time of celebration but also of reflection and renewed commitment to equality and justice.
The event concluded on a note of hope and unity, with a strong call for ongoing collaboration to protect women’s rights and promote their leadership in every sphere of life.
