Newcastle job claims are false, clarifies ArcelorMittal South Africa

ArcelorMittal denies recruitment claims in Newcastle and urges the public to verify information through official channels only.

ArcelorMittal South Africa has raised concern over the spread of false information on social media, claiming that its Newcastle plant is recruiting.

Company denies recruitment claims

The company has firmly dismissed posts suggesting that ArcelorMittal Newcastle will resume operations and is accepting CVs and job applications.

In a statement issued on its official Facebook page, the company confirmed that the Newcastle facility remains under care and maintenance, with no recruitment currently taking place.

“The company is not accepting CVs, nor has it authorised any individuals, community groups or third parties to solicit or collect job applications on its behalf, whether at the plant gates or elsewhere,” the statement read.

Public urged to verify information

Members of the public are urged not to act on unverified information from unofficial sources.

Acting on such claims may result in unnecessary expenses, travel inconvenience and false expectations.

“No members of the public should travel to ArcelorMittal facilities unless formally and directly engaged through official company processes,” the company added.

ArcelorMittal South Africa reiterated that any updates regarding operations or employment opportunities will be communicated only through official and verified channels, including formal media statements and recognised corporate platforms.

The company also encouraged job seekers and community members to exercise caution, verify information directly with ArcelorMittal South Africa, and avoid sharing unconfirmed reports.

“ArcelorMittal South Africa remains committed to transparent and responsible communication, and thanks the public for their co-operation and understanding,” the statement concluded.
