Deluge leads to flooding on the R33 route
Motorists have been urged to avoid the route until the water subsides.
Motorists are urged to avoid the R33, Dundee/Vryheid road, this morning after the Mpati Stream flooded the route past Battlefields Country Lodge about 10km from Dundee.
The stream often bursts its banks during heavy rain making for dangerous driving conditions on the R33.
Traffic authorities are monitoring the route. Over 65mm of rain was measured last night. It is not clear if the storm knocked out the cellphone signal in the area which has been down since early this morning.
The Dundee area has been hit by almost daily storms since the start of the New Year.
