District SAPS Commissioner tackles crime issues in Nquthu

A District Task Team has been put together to deal with all serious crimes in the district, including Kwanqulu, which is hoped will have a positive effect.

Rising crime came under the spotlight in the Nquthu area on Friday when Umzinyathi District Commissioner Major General Francis Slambert and her top management, together with Gauteng Community Safety & Liaison Head of Department Miss Sisulu, held a community engagement at the Kwanqulu Community Hall.
The purpose of the Imbizo was to address the rise of crime, especially contact crimes such as murder, attempted murder and assault, etc, in the area.

“Pertinent issues were raised by the members of the community.
“Some were addressed immediately and some the District Commissioner took note of and they will be addressed accordingly,” confirmed Dundee area spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana.
General Slambert acknowledged the presence of Miss Sisulu and urged the community to work hand-in-hand with the police in bringing perpetrators to justice.

She was adamant that perpetrators must not be protected under any circumstances.

“The Imbizo concluded on a positive note and the community has vowed to work with police in fighting crime within the community,” added Nkwanyana.
